Spelman College Museum: 'Repossessions' exhibition

Spelman College Museum presents 'Repossessions,' a powerful exhibition featuring works by six artists including Chelle Barbour, Marcus Brown, and Kenyatta A.C. Hinkle that explores the aftermath of enslavement and the concept of reparations. Commissioned by The Reparations Project and curated by Dr. Bridget R. Cooks, the exhibition allows Black artists to 'repossess' historical objects from white family archives of enslavement and transform their meaning. The exhibition originated at the California African American Museum and addresses the multigenerational legacy of human ownership while envisioning pathways toward reparation.
